What Is the Collision Damage Waiver?

In the unlikely event of an accident, compensation for such things as bodily injury and property damage are included in the rental fee, meaning the coverage provided by the rental car company you use will apply.
However, even in the event that compensation is applied, the user is still responsible for a portion of the costs. This portion is referred to as the "excess," and the compensation that waives this excess is known as the "Collision Damage Waiver."

Example: Insurance and Compensation for Rental Car Company A

  • Unlimited coverage per person for bodily injury (excess: ¥50,000)
  • Property damage coverage: Up ¥30 million per accident (excess: ¥50,000)
  • Vehicle coverage: Market value per accident (excess ¥50,000 or ¥100,000)

Customers will be responsible for paying the relevant excess amount listed above in the event that they have not added the Collision Damage Waiver option to their reservation, while those customers who have added this option, they will be exempt from paying the excess amount.
At Jcation, all listed plans include the CDW in their price, meaning customers are protected in the event of an accident.

※The CDW will not apply in the event that an accident is not reported to the police, involves a violation of the law, breaches the rental agreement, or in the event where the customer is deemed responsible for the use and management of the rental car.
※The excess amount varies between rental car companies and cars.

What Is the Non-Operation Charge and NOC Compensation?

In the event that a rental car becomes unavailable for use by other customers due to repairs or cleaning necessitated by accidents, theft, breakdowns, damage, hit-and-run incidents or other reasons, the customer shall be responsible for the resulting loss of business to the rental car company during the relevant period.
This is known as a "non-operation charge (NOC)" or "loss of use compensation," while the coverage that waives the NOC is called "NOC Compensation."

NOC Compensation may be added separately as an additional paid option when reserving, or it may be included as part of the rental plan.
Customers can narrow down their search for plans including NOC Compensation by clicking the "Modify Search" button at the top of the search results page.

※Customers cannot add or cancel this option during the rental period or after returning the car.

What Is a One-way Rental?

Returning a rental car to a different location than the one where you departed from is known as a "one-way rental" or "drop-off rental."
This is a convenient option to use when it's difficult to return the car to the original rental location due to your travel route, or when you want to return the car to a location along the route that suits your schedule.

Example: Depart: Rental Car Company A Asahibashi Station Store → Return: Rental Car Company A Naha Airport Store

What Are Calendar-Based Rates?

Most rental car companies make use of a calendar-based rates system for pricing.
Rates are calculated by the day (e.g., 1 night/2 days) rather than by the hour, meaning the price remains the same as long as the rental period doesn't cross over into the next day.
This also allows customers to rent with flexibility regarding return times.
However, please be sure to adhere to the return time specified at the time of making your reservation.
