Our coaster-making workshop is our most popular course, where you weave 12cm of fabric to complete three coasters at once.
Even beginners will be supported by experienced weavers, ensuring you create beautiful pieces!
You'll use a traditional Shiozawa loom called a "takabata" and silk threads, the same type used for Shiozawa textiles, to create your Shiozawa-ori weave.
Each loom has a different color for the warp threads. Please choose your favorite loom!
You can choose three colors for the weft threads from a wide selection.
Weaving offers a wonderfully immersive experience, allowing you to lose track of time and create a truly unique, one-of-a-kind piece!
Small children (under 110cm tall) can participate with adult supervision.
*All weaving experiences include a demonstration and explanation (approximately 15 minutes) about the history of Shiozawa weaving. In addition to the workshop fee, there is a separate admission fee for the second floor (500 yen for adults, 250 yen for elementary school students) per person. Thank you for your understanding.
* You can also participate in a workshop to create small items such as earrings and keychains using the Shiozawa weaving you made during the hand-weaving experience. In that case, the workshop fee will be 20% off. You can apply on-site. Please consider it^^
