A world-best award winner and 47 years without pesticides — in two cups,

Minamata and Ashikita are home to two Japanese black teas with completely different characters. One is produced by Kajihara Tea Garden using the "Benifuki" cultivar from the Tsuge district of Ashikita Town; this tea won the world's top honor, "Best in Show" at THE LEAFIES 2022. The other comes from Ten no Seicha-en in the Ishitobi district of Minamata City, made from native tea bushes over 90 years old—cultivated for 47 years without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

You will taste and compare teas from these two gardens, which differ in altitude, soil composition, and water hardness. Feel free to enjoy the experience at your own pace, reading the provided bilingual (Japanese/English) leaflet without the need for a guided commentary. To conclude, the tasting is paired with a pie made from pesticide-free *amanatsu* citrus.

The 45-minute session offers the perfect amount of time to discover the unique qualities of tea from this region.

■ Program Outline

*   Side-by-side tasting to compare the two teas and explore differences in soil, altitude, and production methods.
*   Enjoy the tea alongside seasonal sweets, such as the *amanatsu* pie from "Un Cinq" (An-Sanku).
